Security Deposit Information

Wilderness World pre-authorizes your credit card for a security deposit on each rental item per reservation. This reduces your liability for unintentional damage to a rental item. 

Security deposit refunds are processed when you return your rental gear undamaged.

If the rental item comes back damaged, your deductible will go toward the total cost of the replacement value or of the repair cost of the item – whichever is less.

Renters are responsible for 100% of the replacement cost for lost or stolen items, or for items that are more than 14 days past the return date (plus additional day fees). 

What is covered and what is not:

  • Unintentional damage to the rental item due to accidents during proper use of the gear – drops, falls, accidents, etc is covered.

  • Only the main items are covered (see below), not accessories – loss or damage of accessories (batteries, chargers, cords) are still 100% the responsibility of the customer.

  • Lost or stolen items are not covered- you are still 100% responsible for lost or stolen items.  Only damaged items that are returned are covered.

  • Damage caused by improper use – for example, water damage to SAT Phone.

    Our goal is to provide you with high-quality outdoor recreational gear so you don't have to spend big money for one-time use. Please help us keep these items circulating to others by taking care of them.

  • We are located in eastern Cincinnati along the Clermont/Hamilton County line. We will gladly deliver your rental equipment free of charge within 35 miles of the center of Cincinnati. If you would prefer to meet in a public location we can do that too! 

  • Absolutely! Just give us a call and we'll make sure your new dates are available. If they aren't and you call within 48 hours, we will refund your deposit. But let's hope the date's available so you can enjoy awesome gear! 

  • DescriWe understand life happens. PLEASE call as soon as you know you can't return the gear on time. You may be charged additional rental days. And if you are more than 14 days late you will be charged the full replacement cost of the item. 

  • There is a replacement fee for lost and stolen rentals; typically the price we paid for the gear. Contact us at christina@wilderness-world.com and we'll get you the details and payment arrangements so that you'll be able to rent with us again.

  • Yes. We will run an authorization on your credit card for 15% of the value to replace the product. We will not run the charge as long as the gear comes back in satisfactory condition. If the gear needs to be repaired or replaced, we will credit your deposit to the cost of the repair or replacement and you will be responsible for the balance. Please read the terms before submitting your rental request.
